Many foot problems such as heel pain (for example, plantar fasciitis), pain in the ball of the foot (metatarsalgia) and general arch pain can be caused by problems with the foot structure. Ankle, knee and low back pain can also be caused by mechanical foot problems. A thorough biomechanical assessment can help determine the source of your pain and how to treat it. Dr. Handley studied orthotic assessment at chiropractic college and along with his degree in kinesiology, this allows him to specialize in the biomechanics of the foot.

Our process combines a computerized gait analysis, a complete medical history and physical examination, combined wih custom molds of the feet, resulting in a thorough three dimensional and functional diagnosis of foot and gait problems.

Prescription orthotics look like shoe insoles, but are biomechanical medical appliances that are custom made to your correct your specific foot imbalance. Orthotics work on your feet much like glasses work on your eyes — they reduce stress and strain on your body by bringing your feet back into proper alignment. Orthotics fit into your shoes as comfortably as an insole — and they have the advantage of having been made from precise imprints of your feet.

If you have any questions about orthotics or would like to order a pair, please make an appointment and we will be happy to help!
